Loose primers are not very unusual, they are commonly found in soft brass fired once, or ammo loaded to excessive pressure, or in normal brass that has been shot and reloaded many times. But even IF the original factory bullets were switched, or they were fired once in a somewhat out of spec chamber, there is really no excuse for case splits running lengthwise. That's clearly a quality control problem at the factory. I bought the lot I got from Ganderite many years ago, so all this is past history now and really just a discussion and learning opportunity. And I believe Ganderite when he writes that this is the first he's heard of the problem. This discussion has no practical relevance to modern purchasing decisions.
