Talking about BURRS!!!!
I can attest to that, being as i have 2 Golden's. After spending 2 hours in the bush with both dogs i got home to discover that they were covered! I mean, they looked like chocalate labs! Unbelievable....it took my girlfriend and i more than an hour and a half to pick them all out! This was my first time bringing them out with me and we had a great time but damn, it almost wasn't worth it.
Anyways, a little more on topic.... Theres nothing i can say that hasn't already been said. I may be biased seeing as i own two of them, but there simply mans best friend. Great dog to have around family and kids, never a worry. Highly intelligent and easy to train. They just want to please you at any cost and the list goes on and on.
Whoever said they can't keep up with the Labs in the water?? I like to know which Goldens' you've observed? Or maybe you just haven't met mine.
I can't keep mine out of it. I mean from small little puddles all the way up to huge lakes, from +25 celcius down to -15 in the middle of winter, they don't avoid it, they plunge head first into it!!!
I personally love their long hair and how they look. I'm pratically used to eating it day in and day out anyways (even though we vacume and sweep regularily) and brushing it off our clothes, but thats nothing i didn't know what i was stepping into. There a long haired breed so what did you expect!?!?
This breed is loyal as loyal can be! There priorities are you, then food, then family and then food again. Don't be suprised if they pick a favourite.... usually the alpha in the house but then again between the gf and i, I'm the one feeding and walking them so i guess its natural.
I find Labs are great (considering there all part of the same family) but at the same time are a little to hyper for my liking. But there short hair is a blessing in so many ways. Either way, you won't be disappointed. I wouldn't give mine up for Anything and at the same time i think i just found a breed that i'll never be without.
