I Can Feel the Brotherly Love already this morning.
Tight Groups and Seasons Greetings to all the tacitool lovers out there.

It's a good gun, I'm used to the pot shots and defending the cliche responses it garners.

Mossi 464's are good rifles for the bucks. They could've done a better job of the stock say, synthetic with snap in spacers for adjusting LOP and have an adjustable cheek rest too. The fore end would be better as a Hogue overmolded unit and just have a top rail for optics. I'd lose the flash hider too, but that's jes me.;)

Be nice to have one in .35 Remington for workin' in the bush.:)

Fun gun for some, but I can't help thinking that the "zombie killer" model looks like it belongs to.....
This guy.

If they put a full stock, camo paint and a duck commander sticker on it I bet it would sell well.

I'll just take the full stock though, cmon shotshow 2015.

I mean no disrespect to those whose taste favors the 464... But, it seems so counter intuitive to put a modern AR butt stock and picatinny rail on an ancient firearm action, it seems like a waste and insult to something that was part of the heritage of those whose parents and relatives put meat in the freezer with, I could see putting that on something like a .223 bolt action, or a modern semi auto, not so much the lever though.

This is how I see the 464:
what is it? a tactical rifle? No, an AR or tavor would be far superior and it's not worth saving the money when your life is on the line, is it for the range? No, there's a lot of more accurate rfiles for the range? Ok, well maybe it's a deer rifle? Then why is it dressed up like it's going to strike fear into terrorist hearts with rails to support lasers and flashlights and long range scopes and the telescoping butt stock for shooting out your humvee?

Now, having said that, if you guys really like it, what am I missing? why does it appeal to you? As a gun-nut we really shouldn't be "hating" so help us understand. And don't get me wrong, I'm not against modifying firearms, I'm guiltier then most when it comes to that, I'm just not understanding this one. So seriously, this probably comes off as I'm all about hating this thing, so help us out.

Wow - unlike the SPX, which should still be comfortable to lever, that tactical Mosin looks downright cumbersome to rack the bolt. It looks less functional than a regular 91/30...?

I guess if anybody wanted to ask the question, "what would happen if you mated a Win m94 clone with a Tapco catalog??" The Mossberg 464 tactical is the answer...

My 464 did not shoot factory ammo very well looking at it from a bench rest point of view. It was definately minute of deer. But I built up some hand loads and took her to the range yesterday for some new years fun. I loaded ladder loads of lever evolution and h335. My rifle shot h335 more accurately than the lever evo. Almost all my 5 shot groups had 2 fliers. I had mounted a cheap $40 barska 3-9 x 40 scope for shooting factory hunting ammo this year and for a consistent point of aim for shooting my hand loads. Below is a picture of my best group and my white tail deer I took this year. I had no problem dragging the 464 spx thru the brush. Even with a scope and leather cheek piece and bipod mounted. Never used the bipod hunting this year BTW. She was taken shooting off hand. Bipod was on there just in case i had a chance to shoot prone.

Keep in mind. If you are shooting off a rear bag. Make sure the bag is not depressing the release lever for the stock adjustment. I had the pleasure of finding out what a scope feels like on my face with a 35.5 grain compressed load of lever evo behind a Hornady ftx 160 grain bullet. Luckily the barska scope has a wide round lip and I received no bloody scope eye. Just a bruised ego.

Happy shooting.

Edit.. Ps: I would much prefer a wood stock but this did the job. I removed the useless rails on the fore grip as well. The scope is now off that I have an accurate hand load and will not be going back on
