Hey guys, I am gonna be stocking a 45-70 siamese mauser any month now and am looking for advice on sourcing a semi inletted wood or laminate stock.

Any advice on which stock maker to buy from ? (prefer canadian if possible and would pay a few bucks more to sourcein Canada)

What are your thoughts on a cost sensitive strong stock?

Also what do you think about the need for a cross bolt?

Thanks

David

Yes to Fajen, I have a Boyds laminate, yes to crossbolt, also ensure to fully glass bed the action as well. Get a really good recoil pad...and if you like lauching +400 grain bullets hard and fast as humanly possible, I suggest you get a mercury recoil reducer as well. Benelli makes one for shotguns and is commonly available from a well stocked gunsmith.

Yes to the best recoil pad you can buy. Mine was made up in the early 70`s at Epp`s and is glass bedded but no crossbolt. Another thing you should get is very good ear protection and make sure you have a tight fitting cap if you use one.

I have mercury recoil reducer, best recoil pad and a bottle of Ibuprophen on the list. Thanks guys.

Any more stock makers with a good reputation?
