any opinions. i have a cz varmint and a 10 22 in the stable now. whats an accurate 22 bolt without going crazy and looking at coopers etc?

Find a Remington 541S or T. They're starting to climb in price but still not expensive when compared to Coopers,Kimbers,Etc. never heard of one that shot poorly.

I have a couple 10-22's as well as a 452 varmint and a 455 super match, a couple of other single shots as well, serves my purpose. I haven't shot any lately but the Salvage 22 rifles have a good reputation.

I have a Pre-WWII .22 Mauser bolt action single shot rifle. They can be pretty hard to find, but IMO, if I want a modern rimfire that is equally accurate, I think a Cooper would be on the same level perhaps. I admit I've never owned a CZ rifle. Right now my Mauser keeps five shots into a nickel at 50 and at 200 I would say this rifle could be 3inch capable at that distance with the right ammo.

maybe i will look for an cz american. i do agree with cz's being accurate but i didn't want another varmint. was thinking of going with a 2.5x10 scope. my varmint runs a 6x20. its a little heavy for grousing.

Since you already have the CZ Varmint and talk about "grousing" I would just go with a lighter CZ configuration... If "minute-of-grouse head" is your bench mark, then "extreme" accuracy is not required... At grousing distance (10-30 yards), most bolt actions can take out the eye with preferred ammo. Even better, choose a compact low profile scope and put it on an FS... Walking the forest with an FS just feels "right."

Not to hi-jack this thread but....which "quality" bolt rifle has the "best" iron sights for "grousing" range (10-30yrds)?

I know I'm going to feel really foolish here, but what is an "FS" Hoytcannon?
