The plain taper barrel with the monte carlo wood stock with 4-12 banner scope.
Its really light weight even with big optics(which matters if you want to use in field)
Simple proven design (only two ingredients iron and wood)
Rugged and cheap enough you wont worry about bumping it or dropping
A tack driver on the bench
Decent trigger

As for the henry is as good as everyone else says. Personally ive owned one as
well as a couple marlins,remingtons,baikal,cil anschutz,etc.
I got bored with them all and still have the savage, and a kick assed 10/22 for fun.
