Good article on handgun sizing

An excellent piece, goes a long way to answering that "which gun" question that shows up twice a week around here! First Class!

That's a bit of a surprise.
Guess it's the width that causes ppl to whine.

Making the observation that the grip sucks is not whining, it's stating empirical fact. :p

And yes, it's most definitely a combination of width and bad ergonomic design. Apparently people have square hands, according to Glock.

I measured my finger as shown on the chart, and its 4.75" from the crotch of my thumb to the middle of my last digit.
I always found the Glock 17 to be small in my hands.
I tried many ways to correct the awekwardness of it, but just couldnt do it.
The switch to a Beretta with a hogue grip is like night and day.

You might have done it wrong. Try follow the calculation. I tried just measuring from the crotch of the thumb to 1/4" past my first index joint, and I got a high number. When I did it again, and followed the formula, it turned out average, like 3 1/2". The hand is a hard thing to measure, it's not exactly linear.

I'm sure Glock's engineers would tell you that we'd all be much more efficient if we did have square hands. For those who don't buy into that, there's always the M&P :D
