Any recommendations for a gunsmith in BC who's good with 1911s?

Looking to get the following done to my Kimber Eclipse Target II;

Reliability job/package
Trigger job (get it down to 3.5 pounds)
Extended slide release
Extended magazine release
Ambi thumb safety
IPSC classic division legal magwell

Thanks!

I'd like to ask a really stupid question here, because I am not up on all the various 1911 quirks. Why does a pistol that sells for almost $1400 US need a reliability job done to it?

"And the award for best question of the days goes to"
So what's not reliable about it?
Most issues I see with 1911's are either a dirty gun, poor ammo, magazine related or spring issues coming in a very distant fourth (and arguably connected to poor ammo).

Sounds like Dlask is the way to go :)

It may sell for $1400 USD, but it's still a Kimber and there is no shortage of posts if you google "kimber issues." In either case, I'd only be going for the reliability package if that's what the gunsmith recommends.

Where are you located?

Yeah and most spring problems are caused by people who don't know what they are doing! re-springing guns

I installed an Ed Brown maxiwell and wilson combat oversized mag release on both my 1911's. Both drop in changes with no issues. The mag well is very nice and still fits for classic with room to spare. Part numbers from Brownells 1100-002-611 and 965-405-100.

I dont see the ambi thumb safety and extended slide catch I dont see those being much issue being dropped in as well. I personally dont see the need for an extended slide catch. I never use it as a release. Tap and rack always.

I cant say much for the trigger job aspect.

Thats my bit of input, hopefully it helps in some way.

Cheers

Clarence at BumbleBee Custom Guns in Prince George does nice work.

He is a very experienced IPSC shooter and knows a lot about making firearms perform.

He has done work for me on 1911's and revolvers that I have used for IPSC.

Located in the tricities just outside of vancouver but if shipping means the gun gets the attention it needs, then anywhere in BC works.

Had a few people recommend just to go the gunsmith route since some parts advertised "drop in" won't fit every 1911. Also, not interested in ordering a magwell online unless someone can vouch it's IPSC Classic legal. The only one I can find online that claims to be is this

Thanks, will take a look at his work!

X2. Joe knows 1911...

x3 Just make sure Joe does the work himself and not a lackey, unless you want it to go full auto and have to send it back a couple of times only to find out Joe was out of the country and get a run around from his staff and out of frustration said f-it and finally sold the gun to Armco for a partial trade for a STI Targetmaster that finally worked. Oh did I say make sure Joe's fingerprints are on your gun and you will be good to go.

OK, some one finally mentioned Armco. I would have earlier, but every one seems to get their shorts in a knot when he is mentioned.

For 1911 work, that is the man I would send my pistol to.
