Looking for a new pair of hunting boots for around the $200 mark.

Was looking at the Irish Setter with Exoflex as 1 option.

I need something that will obviously keep my feet WARM and dry (Warm being the key as I have issues with keeping my feet warm) while both walking and while sitting idle for long periods of time. Walking in my current $40 Crappytire specials is not an issue but after sitting for only a short period of time they just do not cut it.

Planning on some Coyote Hunting this winter which will include lots of sitting idle.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Bought a pair of Vipertech's at the beginning of the season and they're awesome. Super warm (1200 grams of thinsulate), waterproof and lightweight. It'll be interesting to see how they stand up as they go for around $134.99 a pair. The only thing that I don't like about them is the lacing as they are a 12" boot and run eyelets all the way to the top. Hooks on the top half of the boot would have made them easier to lace up, but other than that I'm impressed so far. DEnded up getting them for my son, wife, 2 of my friends and now my nephew wants a pair.

Irish Setter Elk Trackers are a little over your posted limit but they are warm, dry, light and very durable. They also have a regular welted sole so that when they wear out you can have them re-soled for around $60-70. Mine are on their second set of soles and going strong.

I picked up a pair of boots from Bass Pro in the spring. The brand is escaping me at the moment. $179 on clearance for $59. Really nice quality, waterproof and the most comfortable boots I own.
Keep an eye open for the sales. There are some good deals out there.

I bought a set of Brownings with Thinsulate and Gore-Tex a few years back - very comfortable, warm and dry.

I have wide feet, and could not find a Danner that was wide enough or comfy. The shoe guy claimed that they use a relatively narrow last - no idea if it is true or not.

Also, be sure to get a sole that is made of top quality material.

I had a pair of Rocky boots that I called the "Boots of Death" - the slipperiest damn pair of boots I ever owned. I did go down on wet Canadian shield rock while hunting in them. They are deep in a landfill somewhere .......

Most of my other outdoor boots (hiking) are yellow label Vibram. Quite grippy and tough. The Brownings are something else, but also not slippy.

I believe these are on sale at WSS right now. Will check them out.

I have two pairs of Danners, one is a 9", the other 12"
I have hunted the 9" pair for 9 seasons now...best boot I ever owned.\
Warm, dry and durable. Tough to beat.
I have haerd that Meindl are very good, but pricey.
Eagleye.

Gagnon Sports in Oshawa, Ontario has all Irish Setters on 40% off. Check out their website, they will gladly ship. I personally wear Rocky's and I love them, but I picked up a pair of Irish Setters for my Dad for Christmas.

I managed to partake of Danner's Friends and Family sale that got leaked last year. I don't think they'll be doing that again.

I think Elk trackers are being discontinued, I have a pair they are great, I am going to stock up before their gone.

Guessing with these both being the same price I may get the Irish Setters since they have the 1000g insulation vs 400g in the Danner.

Danner MONTANA HUNTER GTX $209.88 Reg $299.95

Irish Setter ELK TRACKER 1000g $209.88 Reg $299.95

depending on how much you are walking I like these.Schnee hunter II i have the hunter version or for colder conditions the extreme... too many stories about irish for me. my partner had the 1,000 thinsulate pair they were as big as a pair of cinderblocks.

Alot of guys have been talking about the kenetrek in which case the northern looks about the same.

when ordering you need to remember that these pac boots have d width so you might need to ask for a 1/2 size larger. the friendly people at both places will help you choose

Dont forget the smart wool socks, they seem to work well.
You can get knock offs at wallyworld for 10 bucks for two pairs.

They do make a difference. Also make sure you get a boot that fits well but just a bit loose.

Im buying one size larger, blood circulation in the feet is so important and so far, so good.:D

Great for flat land but not sure of the more mountainous regions.
