Good brass score at the range today!

Took some time off work today and hit the range. Just me and some RCMP there, shooting at a different bay. After they packed up I went scrounging for brass as I always do. Usually just .40 there which I'll take, but it dosen't excite me too much since it's cheap as dirt anyway. Well today there was 45acp, and lots of it,:D in addition to .40 and some 45gap. Needless to say I took every last piece, but am wondering what the heck are they shooting in .45?

Shhhhh! Actually I'm pretty sure that somebody at every range across the country has informed the police departments that club members look forward to sweeping up their once fired brass.
 
Nothing wrong with someone scooping the once fired 9mm brass, (new stuff is Remington Nickel Plated stuff, I don't know about how well it reloads), but its just polite to pick up after yourself.

Because they don't have too. We should be honoured they come and shoot the S#$T out of our range, destroy the target retuns, break lights and put rounds into the ceiling and leave a big F#$%#N mess behind. Slobs.....
How you can put a load of buckshot into overhead baffles less than 7 meters from the firing point is beyond me...
 
Was up at the Vic Fish & Game this past week. Picked up lots of 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 GAP and .223 Remington brass. Love it when the cops are finished shooting... :p

Maybe the same way that an Ontario range got a .729 hole in the wall of its meeting room when the OPP were doing some training.:rolleyes:

It's ok, they made that hole using dummy training rounds. :eek: at least they managed not to shoot eachother.....
 
On one side, they're not reloading it (not allowed to shoot reloads I believe) so why pick it up?
But....it does make them look like slobs, who don't give a rats ass about where they are.
There used to be lots of 40, 223 and some 45 when the cops were allowed on the LFGA range. Not so much anymore. When the rent-a-cops come to train, they like to leave behind a pile of brass as well.

There's a range near Montreal and all the empty brass gets dumped into some big plastic garbage can. It's always been at least half full when I've gone there. Wonder what they do with it all...
 
"...wonder why they don't think they have to pick up after themselves..." They're cops. They never clean up after themselves. They're the absolute worst people for range safety and manners.
The OPP TRU team doesn't clean up after themselves either. Opened a range on CFB Borden, long ago, after they had been there. Empty 9mm cases every where. Had my guys clean it up, then reported it to Range Control. I suspect they were not allowed back. Have no proof though. Primers had been sealed in too, so I couldn't use it.
The TO ETF was directly responsible for the old Cold Creek Conservation Area range being closed twenty plus years ago. Fired over the back stop with one round landing next to a guy roofing his house, way behind the range. The local municipality used it as an excuse to have the range closed.
The assorted cop teams are always crying about not having range facilities. No wonder, when they think their mommys work with them and will clean up after them.
 
Interesting.... I am a member of our national police force and I sorry to have to agree with you about cops being messy. I'm not too happy with some of our people and the way they leave a range. Where I have shot my annual qualification (several different ranges, both indoor and outdoor) we have been very careful to clean up. I am a brass hound and save as much as I can, along with the nice empty boxes. I can't stand to see that stuff get thrown away. I give the brass and boxes to whoever wants it. What a shame to throw out nice .308 brass!! Out here in the boonies we have to borrow a private range or another police service range, as we can't use our own in Regina. It is packed every day with training cadets. I would suggest that, if you come to the range and find it a mess after cops have been shooting, it would be a good idea to write the detachment NCO (boss) a reasonable letter explaining the situation. If you don't get a reasonable response, NO MORE COPS SHOOT AT YOUR RANGE!!! There is absolutely no excuse for leaving a mess. I shoot my old rifles at a gravel pit and usually have to clean up other people's messes - and these aren't cops!!

Do you know for a fact that a police officer did this?
 
hmph the cops that shoot at our range always clean up after themselves quite nicely.
