Good bullet puller?

Had a frankford arsenal plastic hammer type...did not last very long. Anybody have experience with a quality one they could recommend. Thanx

I built my own by machining out a ball peen hammer. Then used the cartridge holser from one of those plastic ones, and made a screw on cap. Cost to build, about $80 including charging myself for labor.

i've had an RCBS one for 25 years. still works fine altho the handle isn't as straight as it one was - plus I have to use the shellholder to handle the WSM cases as thre cap is too small

X2 on RCBS- had one for years and it works an anything from 9mm to 300winmag.

I've got one. Works fine. Pulled several hundred rounds with it already.

the trick is not to smak it on concrete. Smack it on a 2x4 or other peice of wood

Bought a well used RCBS hammer 2 years ago and still works well

I bought a Hornady camlock bullet puller and they are fast and do not damage the bullet at all, it can pull 50 bullets in 5 min.

I have both hammer and collet type pullers. They both have their purposes. The hammer type is better for handgun cartridges and for when you only have to pull a couple of bullets. If you're pulling a bunch of bullets of the same calibre, then the collet type is better.

Forster has a collet puller that's pretty much the same thing but slightly cheaper.

The forster collet puller is easier and faster than the RCBS, and, because it gets tighter when you pull, works better on tough bullets. Only thing is it marks the bullets.

+1 on the plastic hammer type. If you are pulling factory ammo, seat the bullet 1/16" deeper to break the sealant. And smack it on a reasonably hard surface. I currently use a chunk of maple 4x4

I've used both Forster and RCBC collets and both work just fine.

Should note that the collets types don't always work on lead TC style bullets.

I have both types and use as required.
