I use the hammer type from RCBS,it works great.
X2. I used mine one afternoon to pull 265 bullets from some 5.56 and would highly recommend one.

The hammer type does the trick for sure, but put a small piece of foam it it to protect a soft nosed bullet from being damaged

RCBS collet puller fo me,but I have the hammer type and there are good to go too

Hammer type works great to pull a few Oh Sh*t rounds. If you plan on pulling lots of bullets to make mexican match, the collet type would make if easier.

I have both types. The collet type is far, FAR superior. It's just more expensive and you need a different collet for each bullet diameter.

I use the Forster collet type puller and have to say it, like the RCBS and Hornady collet pullers , are far superior to the hammer-type pullers. No loose gun powder to collect and your reloading room doesn't sound like someone is splitting firewood in there. ;)

I have had poor luck with the kinetic bullet puller and have give up on it. I now use the RCBS collet puller. I have found that pulling a crimped bullet is much easier if you use a seater die and just push the bullet into the case a bit to break the crimp free.
Just what I have found to end up with less bullet damage.
The Forster collet puller would also be a good a good one.

I just ordered the RCBS Puller and Collet from Wholesale last week. Not much more expensive than the other type, and of course, the RCGS warranty comes with it. Can't wait until my order gets here because I ordered bullets and few more things as well. How is Wholesale Sports for shipping times? First time I've ordered from them.

That is a subject that could takeup a whole thread of it's own ................ ;)

I will give you an example .............

A few weeks ago a friend asked if I needed anything as he was going to place an order with Wholesale. 2 weeks later the order still had not arrived so a phone call to Wholesale was in order. It turns out they only had one of the two .270 calibre bore brushes - a 2 dollar item - ordered so they were holding up the entire $400.00 ++ shipment until the back-order could be filled.

"...had poor luck with the kinetic bullet puller..." They need a hard surface to whack on. Carpets or plywood aren't hard enough. Go find a nice rock. Granite is everywhere.

Collet Bullet Pullers

You guys using the collet type pullers having any problems with them marking up the bullets? I was always told to get a Kinetic puller, as the collet type leaves ridges on the bullets. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have an RCBS puller, but it doesn't grip hard enough to pull surplus 7.62 bullets when I make Mexican Match. A better solution is a pair of plyer type wire strippers. The notches between the handles grip the bullets well, and cause little disturbance to the bullet. I can pull a 1000 bullets in a day this way.
