Well i did it. I passed my restrictied exams. Now I wait. But while waiting I sit and ponder. More like day dreaming at work, Which hand gun I should add to my black collection. I was thinking about the berretta 92fs....What do you think? How about ammo cost?

9mm is around $14 -$15 a box of 50 at present. .45 is up around $23 to $24. These prices all being based on bulk buying 10 boxes/500rnds at a time.

It's pretty easy to go through a LOT of 9mm or .45 in a day of pistol shooting. If you plan on littering the backstop with copious quantities of bullets it may be worth looking at reloading pretty quickly.

Where can 9mm and 45 ammo be bought in canada?
 
Any pistol that has a track record like the Beretta 92F is a good choice. Go to a gun store and hold/fondle it and others, pick the one that feels best in your hand. Then come back to the board and ask about reliability and accuracy. Regards, Richard :)
 
1911's are great and easy to fall in love with. You need to get one eventually.

I looked for a long time for a 9mm and ended up with a CZSP01 Shadow. Fantastic IPSC production gun and the most accurate pistol I own (also one of the most accurate 9mm's I've ever shot). They are high cap so they are a bit big for my small hands but a small extension of the mag release would solve my only issue with the firearm. I also have a .22 rifle from the same company that cost around $450 and it will outshoot some very expensive little rifles.

Buy your ammo in 1000 round lots. Try Wolfe Bullets for reloads or Marstar etc.
