Sup Nutz,

Wondering if anyone could make some suggestions on a quality Scope for a Ruger 10/22 that doesn't break the bank.

I don't have my 10/22 yet but I figured I'd get as much info as i could before i bought it.

Cheers.

Marcus

Anything from Bushnell, Tasco, Simmons in the 3-9x32 range. About $50-$75, most come with rings and good warranty. Phil.

I have ran $30 scopes and $400 scopes. They all worked the same on my 10-22's

You get a great deal on a bushnell 3-9 for around $50 that will last you a life time.

Yeah I was reading a review on the Bushnell 3-9x32mm rimfire scope and it looks like a good match.

Do i need a scope base as well (yes im a newbie)?

I have a Weaver Classic Rimfire scope on my 10/22. They're designed for rimfire distances, and I think their dimensions are about right for a small rifle like a 10/22. They go for about $150 or so.

That's dangerous wearing hearing protection in a gopher patch. How can you hear them sneaking up on you?:p

Ao

AO helps with most scopes not specifically made for a 22 in that it allows you to focus at ranges as close as 10 yards on some models. Most 22 scopes are usually focused for 50 yards and can make for a blurry cross hair or sight picture when your target is too close.

I find it useful for me as I do alot of indoor range shooting from 20 yards and 50 yards. For the longest time I had a $50 3-9X32 silver bushnell scope on my 10/22. Now it wears something more expensive and higher in magnification with an AO.

I use the Bushnell rimfire scope in 4X. Works pretty well for me for little money. Don't try it on a centrefire rifle though or you will have a $50 metal tube bolted to your gun...

I like to use a 4-12 power on a 22 or 17HMR with AO. You are shooting at small objects and you have to see all the fine details and nuances of your delicate prey. Its real cute to see a gopher use both of its little fists to clear the dust out of its little eyes when I undershoot (deliberately of course). I also have a 10/22 with a Busnell Trophy 1.5-5 for close range work on running coyotes. It is clear, bright, and has a large field of view.
