The TMJ bullets are less expensive...but not by much. TMJ is also reffered to as Thin Metal jacket...it's just a thin electroplating. The jacket on a FMJ is much thicker.
Some people have reported accuracy issues with the TMJ but it really depends on the gun. The rifling on some barrels can also cut through the plating...FMJ is better but a bit more $
If you want a fully encased bullet you can also get CMJ (fully encased with a full thick jacket, or JHP...hollowpoints don't have an exposed base)

We find the metal jackets that have separated from the rest of the bullet, quite close to the shooting positions, from guys who don't follow the rules. They really do a job on the steel plates.

I load my 9MM from my own cast bullets from wheelweights. Cost is limited to my time and primers at about $3.00/100. Leading? Never have experienced leading in any of my nines including, STI Trojan, Np 29, Hi-Power or CZ 85. 4.7 gr Unique. I use Mr. Jakes red hard lube and water quench my bullets.

One thing that needs to be said, people often ##### about LeBaron always being out of stock. Well, one of the reasons for that inconvenience is the fact that there are some individuals out there who think it's a great idea to buy up their entire stock. The last time I was at the Markham LeBaron, the lady behind the counter said that they were out of 100 round ammo packs because some ASSWIPE bought everything they had in stock. Thanks a bunch, whoever you are. That kind of inconsiderate, selfish behavior makes one not want to give heads up to fellow gun nuts.

Might also speak to LeBaron's need to bring in more quatities of stock! I know out here 9MM is bought up by the case in the spring by RCMP for their qualifiers, so to Sheriffs Depart. I know because I often get their brass.

The problem with lead is if you are shooting lead out of some 9mm they tend to tumble . Another problem with lead ( in any calibur ) if you are shooting ipsc or any kind of sport that you have to shoot fast you can smoke your self out (so much smoke you do not have a good site picture[ indoor ranges] ).
Mobile 1 - Not saying you are wrong but I have not seen any evidence of lead bullet tumbling with either my cast Saeco 124 gr lead bullets from wheelweights or bought 124 gr Bullet Barn RN bullets in any of my guns. I have shot them out to 50 yards with no problems noticed.

Where did I say that the business should have declined to take his money? My point was that the purchaser should have had a little more consideration for fellow shooters who don't have an ammunition depot in their basement.pontcanna said:
If you knew anything about retail logistics, you would have known that large stores these days keep just enough inventory to satisfy projected average demand. It's actually cheaper to lose a few sales than to be overstocked. They don't (and can't) plan for unpredictable contingencies like one person deciding to buy up their entire stock.pontcanna said:
