GOOD experience at lever arms?

Shopped there for over 20 years, when I get to Vsncouver. It's a different set up then most gun stores, but I don't have any issues.

I really don't care if staff want to chat to thrmselves rather than follow me around asking to help me though. When I want something I'll pipe up.

Many years ago I dealt with Lever Arms at last once a week for a year, in those days you never knew what was in the back, everything from Sudanese AR10's to Israeli M14's to Australian L1A1's. When CZ75's were selling for $1500 in the US, you could get one (Indonesian "Surplus") from Lever for $349. Not quite the same place now.

This was the exact situation right now with the SVT40's. Over $1200 in the US and $310 at Lever Arms. Great price since some of the other dealers have started raising the price of SVT40's here in Canada.

One day I was looking for a GP100 and noticed they had on on the website.
I called to verify the stock and they said "indeed we have one but only one"
I rushed to Lever and made it 15 minutes before closing.
me: "I came to buy the GP100"
the guy behind the counter: "yeah, we said we have one but it has a blemish and we need to return it to the dealer. We can't sell you a blemished gun".
me: "can I see it? maybe I don't mind."
him: "we already packed it"
me: "is this revolver here on display the GP100 we're talking about?"
me leaving

another time I dropped by to buy a brick of 22LR
the guy handed me one that has been obviously dropped and had a badly crushed corner.
when I refused it he said "there's nothing wrong with it"
after giving me the stinky eye he reluctantly got a good brick but then he started writing down all my PAL info
I left Lever never to return again.

I've had all positive experiences at LA.
I generally go in on Sat., when Blair is there.
I know what I want, so no drama at all.
Been treated fairly every time.

My only regret is that I didnt buy more SVT-40s when they were $200 !

I emailed lever asking whether they have a particular svt-40 arsenal whiteout any wood repairs. got an email back syaing, yes we have one, order online pick a ahand select and put details ''rifle with serial x56''
I did what Ive been ask
received an svt full of wood repairs.
I notified lever about that and he simply reply: 'we do not offer “NO STOCK REPAIRS” as a hand select option.''

After 4-5 emails exchanged, he finally accept to take the rifle back for a refund

Lever Arms was arrogant and rude with me while placing an order over the phone.Another time a buddy tried to order some SVT 40's when their sale was on last day and the girl/lady that answered the phone diddled around for 20 minutes trying to do the order, took the MC #, then said "I have to go the store is closing".Hung up. Called the next day to talk to the manager whereupon he became rude .No sale price on the guns.......hung up.Waste of skin.......... IMO

Things were better when Alan Lever still ran the store. Now the guys just sit behind the desk, barely say hello or smile. Like the rest say, know what you want, know what they have, know the price, go in, buy it and get out. Prices are generally reasonable.

I bought my first gun from Alan Lever. We used to joke that if it was like Russian roulette going in there b/c lots of cool low-priced stuff used to come and go and if you caught him in a bad mood he would grumble and snap at any and all, buying or not. Didn't ever stop me from looking or buying from him. Guys now seem good enough.

I've been into lever arms many times and it's always been a good experience... I was just in there last week picking up some magazines. Had a nice chat with the guy helping me, browsed the rifles and handguns, etc.

I dunno what you guys are complaining about, but I've never had a bad experience there.

Also, they probably have the best parking situation of all the local shops.

Yup, it was THE place 25 years ago...

One experience only... bought 2 SVT-40s when they advertised them at $199.

Paid extra for handpick and was not disappointed.

Called to confirm the order and give my CC number. Whoever I spoke with was very pleasant.

However, never did get the accessories they advertised would come with... despite 2 email reminders.

Not a huge deal but won't be shopping there again is all.

Cheers !!

First firearm I bought was an Sks and crate of ammo, and lever had the best deal. Asked on the phone where the Sks came from and they said "all tulas". So I sent in my order form, with a note saying please mock me a nice one, it's my first ever gun. When it showed up there was no Tula star on it anywhere. I thought they had screwed me.

The gun was a '54 izzy, and it started me collecting the little buggers. Still shoot it all the time. I'd say it was a good experience at lever.
