Well after a good while of scouting, hiking, and hunting i finally was able to connect with this big buck. I was out Thursday afternoon and saw this guy for a glimpse but he took off on me. I went out Friday but no dice. On Saturday i got my brother to come out with me and mid day we finally caught up to him. He's been doing circles through timber and some cut-blocks for the past 2 days. He was with a lone doe at the moment i saw him. First shot was a miss, and as he was trotting along i hit him with a mid spinal shot and then finished him with neck shot. Not my best shooting this time but im glad i got the job done. Shots took place around 140 yards with my Ruger M77 Hawkeye African in 338 Win mag using 225gr Hornady interbonds. From the point i saw him on Thursday to Saturday it must have been 900-1000 meters between both locations, so he hadn't traveled much. Cleaned, deboned and weighed at the butcher he came in at 118 lbs. Pepperoni, sausage, and jerky is in the making at the moment! Looking forward to it!
Both my whitetail tags were filled this year aswell so its time to clean the deer guns and prepare for some coyote hunting!!
