Good Firearm Literature??

any good books that basically teaches about firearms?? ie ammuniton, calibers, maintenance, general stuff about firearms:)
bumped into this website. unfortunately it requires a $30 yearly membership fee to get access to the meaty stuff, but browse around the freebies to see if it's worth your while. :)

it was also recommended to me to look into buying the book Cartridges of the World and that the yearly issue of Gun Digest is good to buy (currently available for $21 pre-order at www.chapters.ca).

as for cleaning and maintenance, it's my understanding that each firearm comes with a manual that tells you what you need to know...tho getting an 'idea' of what goes on would be useful, if there was a nice all-in-one manual!

thats what i was thinking since firearm guts are similiar. i was thinking that there might be a overall general book on firearms (cleaning, maintenence, etc.) :D

Check at used book stores for rifle maintenence books. I think some put out by Outdoor life or some other hunting mag. They came in a series. Excellent and handy reference books.
Firearms books are usually kept in the sporting section or ask the counter person for hunting/firearms books.

Cheers

Gun Books

One good set of general information books are the DBI assembly/disassembly ones for pistol, rifle, military, etc. If you want to really get in depth with military guns look at the Collector Grade series of books, I have about 11 so far and can highly recommend them.

Thanks. I just went to Chapters online and spent $100 on gun books:eek:
Still waiting for my PAL so I can't buy ammo might as well read about guns:D

For learning about cartriges I can wholeheartedly recommend the lyman reloading manual. I pais like $30 for it at LeBaron's but it is a great read. I'm not relolading yet, but I will be eventually. But even without reloading, it really teaches you everything you need to know about Cartridges;bullets, primers, powders, casings, chambers and accuracy.
