I have one in .40.
Big gun for what it shoots. But it's an Hk. Oozes quality. Looks are subjective but I like the modern industrial look in handguns!
Heavy stacking DA pull but SA trigger is fine. I actually like the decocker and #### and lock options. Disassembly is easy.
Was designed as a .40 so no worries about shooting lots of 9mm through it.
Has the ambi European mag release so have to get use to it if you are used to the traditional button.
Mag well is large so quick mag changes are easy. Very accurate firearm. I can shoot high 40s Dot Torture with mine.

I support the choice to buy. The USP is a beast and can eat hot loads all day. I like the Euro-style paddle because I can drop the mag with my trigger or middle finger. The only thing is parts cost more. You can get mags off IRG for less than domestically.
I support this purchase. It's one of my favorite pistols (especially the stainless slide models). I don't like how the mags are so expensive though -they feel a bit cheaper. They work, but they don't feel as tough as the pistol they're for. Usp= tactical tank

Sounds like you folks really like them. Unfortunately it'll have to be an online purchase so if I go ahead with it I won't be able to handle it ahead of time. How's the grip size compared to other firearms?

Don't know about the 9mm version but I assume it's similar to the .40.
The grip girth on the .40 is definitely beefier than my G22. It's well stippled so getting a good grip is no problem. Longer fingers are an asset though!
I would assume very good condition will mean a few scratches and slide wear. Should not affect function of the pistol.
Hmmm. That may temporarily put the brakes on things until I can find one to fondle. My hands aren't tiny, but I tend to find Glock grips large. Mind you, that's because they're square as oppose to rounded. If you're saying you think the USP is bigger though it may not be for me.
It really is square....a beautifully built pistol.....it was the ergo's in the end that made me pass it on....oh...and I also found the grip a little short..when changing mags..my pinkie would be hanging in the air...I am however committed to trying another Hk at some point..
. 1911s have awesome grips but that goes along with a single stack magazine.
My 5' 2" g/f shoots my Mark 23 just fine which has a grip bigger than the .45 USP which in turn is bigger than the 9/40 models.
I think you will be just fine!!!
If I didn't love my CZ P09 so much, I'd be all over it. EE USP prices have come down so much. One of the finest handguns ever produced. As for the size - which people state as the biggest detractor - is only an issue for little hands. Even then, it really isn't. All about how you shoot.
