Good idea or bad idea? H&K edition

look for hk45 ..soft shooting , excellent ergonomics there's few in EE

Okay, 2 things.

1) I've already got a Colt 1911 in .45 so I'm hoping to add a 9mm to the collection. Although just collecting a stable of .45's is tempting seeing as people seem to dump them for fear of having to buy ammo.

2) and this is something I've really been meaning to talk to you about. I've watched your signature gif about 4 million times, and everytime I do I'm concerned you're going to shoot the end of your nose off. Somehow I've convinced myself that one of these times I'm going to see it and witness a ND. So please be careful. On a related note my concern also causes me to watch it hypnotically expecting a unique outcome to what I know is a recorded loop. Your gif is in fact my insanity.

The shooter in the gif two posts up is not j2kool, but rather US shooter Todd Green from pistol-training.com. Sadly, shooting his nose off is now the least of his worries as he died from cancer earlier this year.

Considering ToddG's gun was only pointed toward the ground and downrange, I'd find it hard to think he would have been able to shoot his nose off. It's a shame he died so young.

Consider me informed. That's a really sad story.

I think it's the speed at which it comes up that scares me a little everytime I see it.
Yeah, for someone who didn't know what they were doing it'd be a little risky but that wasn't the case with Todd.

Back on track--I actually prefer the feel of the USP9 to the HK45 I'm my hands.

How sad :( ...#### cancer!!!

That endurance review was one of the reasons I bought an HK45/was bitten by the HK bug. I got the HK45 slighty used off the EE back when they were rare in Canada and I paid a premium for it...it was a US made one as well. Sadly I sold it but I might buy myself a German made HK45c(t) to be the little brother to my Mark 23.

I think the HK45C is better than the full-size, mostly because of the grip. They should have kept the P2000-derived, JCP prototype grip on the full-size, in my opinion. There are people for whom the ergonomic, spiderman grip works for them. I'm not one of them, though.

I personally stay away from ones that use O -rings. Another (small) part to worry about.
No other commonly available modern handguns have or need them.
I can't trust a gun equipped with something that blew up a space shuttle!
But it's just me.
I love their P7, P9S, quirky VP-70, USP. But typical German over-engineering!

They still work without the O-rings. O-ring is kind of marketing gimmick. Anyway, you get 4 extra in the box.

VP70Z is kind of a dud.

Honestly try and handle one at a store before you make the investment... some people dislike the grip.

I own the 9, 45, HK45, SL8 (converted to g36) and a MR556 (with a 416 upper) so I definitely drink the coolaid more then often.

Having said that. They are great guns. Shoot really well. And I love the size of the grips (my hands are average+ size) ive also seen a lot of women shoo the usp9 and they've had no issues with grip size.

Again. Handling one is your best bet, in fact you should ask around to see who might have on in your area... if you were around Winnipeg, Id invite you out to try it.
