Looking to do another project gun on a Howa long action. No chassis, no craziness, but I was thinking mcmillian hunter, hs precision, banser, bell & carlson, woox (maybe), but am wondering if there are some nice ones along a more ‘classic stock’ look that I am missing.
Weight isnt important, but plan for a 26 inch barrel with a heavier than normal barrel.

MDT is introducing a new wooden stock at Shot Show this month. The one teaser photo I saw looked really sweet and was what looked like a traditional walnut, but with a more modern shape.

They usually release them 700, then Tikka, and Howa is often one of the next actions. Maybe they will prioritize getting some long actions out as it is a hunting kinda stock.

Edit: Sorry, missed the synthetic part.

Richard's Microfit does a target stock in walnut and laminate that I quite like. - dan

In Macmillan, I really like the Game Scout. I have three of them now on 6mm AI, 6.5x47L and 300RUM.

Brown Precision Pounder on a M70 in 280 Rem.

HS Precision on a M700 Classic in 35 Whelen.

Greyboe Eagle Pro on a 204 Ruger.

Bell & Carlson on a Howa 1500 in 223.

In a classic styling, I’d probably give the nod to the BP being my favourite. The Greyboe is making fast strides towards being a new favourite overall though.

I have two B&C’s and one HS Precision. The B&C’s - one was a replacement already swapped on a Wby VG2, the other on a factory Mtn 700. The HS I purchased off here and it sits snuggling a 700P

Between the two makes I prefer the HS over the B&C’s but I’m not a cheekpiece fan. Don’t get me wrong they work just not my thing. At some point the 700 Mtn will be swapped to a Wildcat Composite stock.
