Can anyone recommend a good place to order reloading stuff --- other than cabelas,

I've looked at higginspowders, but for the Lee stuff it looks to be about 30% more than at cabelas.. anyone have any good experiences such as quick turn around, good service etc?

thanks

First off, where are you?

Wholesale Sports is a good place to buy powder and primers, if there is one near you.

Otherwise there is a place in Ontario that supposedly sells bulk powder quite reasonably. I can't remember the name right now, but I'm sure somebody will chime in.

Try Natchezss or Midsouth, both ship to Canada. When you compare price, remember the shipping cost and tax.

Midsouth ships to canada but as others have said in many posts, no components(bullets, powder, primers) gunparts, scopes, stocks, etc. ,but reloading tools, dies, presses, etc. are okay. Alot of times it's not the price as much as the availability, most places in canada just don't stock, the things I need anyway. And don't get me started on the sponsors at the top of this page!!!

They ship dies, molds, gas checks to me weekly, esp. the Redding deluxe die sets that are not avail. in Canada, maybe there was something wrong with the size of order, as a friend received the Rockchucker kit from them just a while ago.

Well let's see, to be honest I did not bother calling them but let's see. . .

Well good grief, now we're allowed to order stuff from them, talk about changing the goal posts lol. - It was not 2 weeks ago when I tried to order a Rockchucker reloading kit from them and got this dire warning that the item I wanted was restricted for export by the State Dept or some such bs.

so much for midsouth the lee equipment is marked -- This item is regulated by the US DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE and may require an EXPORT LICENSE for international orders.

I ordered a Lee 1000 recently from Cabelas. It cost $150 landed;tax, duties, shipping included which is a pretty good price. There were no problems at all as regards the state department etc

Higginsons is still a great place to order components from, and to be fair, their prices on LEE stuff isnt bad at all compared to other Canadian distributors

The key to the Midsouth stuff is that it is marked "MAY" require..blah, blah, this is just in case things change and just because it is marked that way, it doesn't mean they can't ship. I just phone 'em up and order reloading equip. and they ship it. Don't go looking for boogeymen!!!!

I got the following reply from Midsouth regarding ordering brass.

Like it was said earlier in the thread, brass, primers bullets etc are regulated. Reloading equipment ie dies, molds etc are not and can be shipped.

I know that. But at least you can order brass. I have ordered dies and equipment with no problems from Lock Stock and Barrel or Natchez.

If you near TO there's lawry shooting sports in Caledonia or hummmason manufaturing in ancaster not sure if they do mailorder or not?I make a trip every now and then. they both have resonable pricec on powder.and primers.
It's nice to buy from the states and get a deal. But after all the canadian shops close and they shut down international shipping on this stuff, what the hell are we suposed to do then!

All right, the order is in, cabelas US it was, paid an extra $22, to get the 3-7 day shipping otherwise it was 14-21 days. I guess the question for the forum would have been "when they say 14-21 days, does it really take that long?",

Oh well, lets see what happens...

I don't know about this theory about buying in the USA hurting Canadian businesses......Take the folks at the top of these pages, they won't go out of their way to get/sell things reloaders need/want....instead they sell what they have and it's usually not what I want and they charge too much for it. So these outfits sell what they can get easily and inexpensively, and I'm supposed to buy from them? Stuff i don't want but is convenient for them? When i ask for something, it's usually"we can't get it", so I'm supposed to buy something else from them??

Most of the sponsors can get anything you want, its just a matter of time. They can't stock every item for every component for every calibre so they go with the more popular items and special order everything else. Although most of these sponsors probably special order from Midsouth or Natchezss anyway, they are probably cheaper than their canadian suppliers.
I needed dies for my .338 Lapua and a guy that used to work at TSE ordered them from Midway and charged me an extra $50 because they were special order.

Everyone needs to make a buck.
