Came across a pair of "WW2 Mausers" and having no knowledge of them, I'm looking for some reading info online to prepare myself for the unavoidable return for more info.
They were locked up and I didn't have time to stop and have a better look, but since they were with some SKS and Mosin rifles, I assume it must be Russian capture.
Sorry to be vague but want to know what I should be looking for as far as marks, stamps and other info. Pricing was about $600 each.
Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Thats way to vague, you are asking for the whole history of the k98.

Not the whole history, Just the Cole's Notes version :)
Maybe Then I be more specific- is there a website or forum where knowledgeable collectors go to discuss such topics? (Or am I still too vague?)
As for going back, taking pictures, posting and discussing, if I go back it will be with cash in hand with full intent to purchase, it's almost an hour away and I don't know how well received a request to take a bunch of pics would go over.

Then K98k forum probably has the highest concentration of experts on the WW2 German rifles. They also have an excellent picture reference forum with nice examples of original rifles from different manufacturers and years.

The price indicates russian capture, did you notice if the parts were electro penciled with the receiver serial number and the original parts# lined out, also a X on the receiver is a quick way to identify a RC K98

Thanks, That's a start. Yes, they were in a Canadian Tire, first Mausers I've seen at any CT. Lots of them have SKS's, a few have Mosins, and I was snooping for a SVT but alas, seems like they are gone now. I had seen a couple before Christmas and was looking up some info, by the time I decided I wanted to have a better look at one they were gone. I expect the Mausers all came from the same source.

If at canadian tire they are most likely russian capture and priced on par.

Russian capture questions are very well received at k98k lol.

If it's all mismatched, with EP numbers, an X, some odd bluing, and shellack its a refurb and around $600. Most people
Most 98k collectors don't value any rc mauser above any other.
