So I love reading "the kill" stories so I though I would share mine.
So we got to the camp Saturday night and we didn't bother going out on Sunday as we just took a rest day (not to serious hunter and we have all week).
Well today I was out at my watch and had some company, a barn owl and a red squirrel for an hour or so. Then I heard what sounded like 2 deer run up on my left and stop about 25y out. I could see the one was a small doe, not worthy of my shot, but I was waiting to for the other one (a doe as well) come out from behind a tree. She had taken a step and I was about to do the deed, when AL of a sudden both just up and took off. I knew it wasn't me who scared em off so I turned to my right and saw the culprit. A sneaky coyote was making his way across the field toward where the does were at about 150y away. I pulled the rifle up and got him sighted and waited till he went straight for more then a few steps. The .308 sure did the trick as he flopped right over. Wasn't a deer but the heard is slightly safer with that healthy female devil dog out of the equation.

So we delt with that and decided to head back to camp for a late breakfast. About an hour later right before we served some fresh Bacon and eggs when I looked out the window when I noticed OK sized buck just hanging out about 25y away right beside one of our trucks. I managed to pull the same 308 down off the wall step outside and load up. I took aim and shot. However being so close I hit a tad high and he ran off about 30y and just Hunkard down in the thicker grass of the field. I kept his in the shop for almost a minute and a half waiting for him to go down. But he got back up and started making his way to our super anti hunter neighbours property so took aim at the upper neck and pulled the trigger again. That was a bang flop. So I present my biggest buck and 8 points to boot.
