I just bought a Norinco M14 and want to put an optic on it. Initally I wanted to put an IOR Valdada M2 super tactical illuminated optic. Since then, I've read a few threads about how M14s have destroyed IOR optics. Will this be a problem or is their a better optic to put on it? I'm looking to target shoot and hunt with the rifle. Suggestions?

I'm going to try my M305 and an Aimpoint ML2 2X on an ARMS 18 mount hunting tomorrow. I've tried using my M3 and liked it alot, but I like the idea of the unlimited eye relief and the ability to make good hits at 200+ yds.(I thinking of your hunting app mostly) I don't think I'd ever shoot past that distance anyway.

If I was to stick to my origional plan of going with the IOR M2 super tactical, were would I be able to get it? As you probably know, the US can't export them and there is only one dealer in Canada and he is trying to get out of the line. Are there any sellers on the forum selling this optic?

Good luck tomorrow, hope you get something, and I hope your system works well for you.

waterArch:

Peter Dobson on the board here is an IOR distrubutor here in Canada.

do a seach, and shoot him a PM.

I have the IOR M2 4*24 with the MP-9 reticule calibrated for 223. I have i mounted on a shortie and am looking forward to messing arroud with it. The quality of the glass is really good, and the darn thing is built like a tank.

Unfortunately, Pete Dobson is getting out of the IOR line because of warranty issues with IOR. He use to settle warrenty problems with IOR USA, but because of the ban, he has to go to Romania, and they agiving him a hard time. It's unfortunate, I've heard a lot of good things about IOR optics.

I have been in contact with him, and he does have some stock left. If the other scope are anything like my M2, they are built like tanks, and should be able to handle the punishment an M305 would dish out. It is my understanding that many of the first optics were designed to be mounded on the SVD rifle.

Its really too bad.
