Hey all, I am looking to add the final piece to the puzzle... A muzzle brake for my Savage model 10, while I don't think it is 100% required for .308 I would still like to get one on there and have it help out with recoil, the only thing is that I am planning on shooting prone a lot, I want to try and get a brake that is not the one of the multi directional kind.

Does anyone know anywhere in BC, say near New Westminster that would be able to create a brake just with ports on the side? I am looking for something similar to the elite iron brakes that they have on some of the McMillan TAC-300's. I have contacted McMillan, to which they replied - contact elite iron, to which I have contacted and am now awaiting a reply.

Thanks in advance for any info, anyone can provide.

"...A muzzle brake..." That'd be something you want to try out before you spend the money. MB's do reduce the felt recoil, but they also significantly increase the muzzle blast and noise for the shooter and anybody near him. Plus for a Savage M10, you'd have to think about where you'll have the smithy work done.
Then do a net search for 'em.

Is your barrel already threaded? I just finished custom machining a .30 cal brake. 3 port tactical style, blued. 5/8-24TPI. What is the diameter of your barrel at the muzzle? Let me know if you want pictures.

Thanks all for the great info. I am looking in to all of these options. So far, I am actually leaning towards a badger ordnance thruster brake as well; I've dealt with wolverine in the past and they have been exceptional to deal with.

Garry Eakin from big horn sales in houston bc has lots of good brakes 1-250-845-4196, he has musle brakes in stock and are the best i've used to date, side discharge 3 and 4 port tactical or slab style

I just got one from Gary for my 338 Lapua. Slabbed, 3 port with top and front ports as well. It's a very nice brake and Gary is awesome to deal with.
