Good Place to get Surplus Reload Components?

Anyone know a good place to get FMJ Surplus Bullets for Reloading and Powders. I am not looking for branded retail but surplus in plain boxes or bags. Its not for Precision Reloading but emergency mass reloading for dry spells we experience once in a while

So far I have only been able to get FMJ in decent non expensive amounts on EE-Firearms Canada, all etailer sellings branded over priced bullets for our needs

We generally purchase well used to when it was availible .224 .323 .310 .3105 .312 .308 in amounts of x1000 but of course best deals are in US but as of since 2012-2013 it seems none ship anymore to canada for some reason even if its just Bullets non flammable or explosive material.....
 
Bulk surplus bullets and powder are pretty much all gone. You can find some in peoples stashes or at gun shows but that's about it.

Commercial bullets aren't "overpriced", they are priced at their optimum price point for the manufacturer. Without huge government subsidies to produce wartime stockpiles the current prices for bullets and powder is the real price (unless you are trying to buy from a retailer that marks up their stuff like mad). When you buy cheap surplus you are buying tax payer subsidized munitions. Asking for more surplus to be made is like asking a bakery to produce more day-olds because they are cheaper for you. You're likely to get told off by the baker.

ITAR is a US export regulation that requires almost all firearms related products to have export permits. Lots of expensive paper work and legal hoops to jump through that most retailers aren't willing to put up with. It includes bare bullets and brass, most gun parts (even non-serialized ones), uncut barrels, and even some stocks and optics.

Dried up eh i was worried about that , not asking for more to be made but people are getting it in some cases but where from is my wonder. most seem to keep it a secret and don't tell. And retail u pay for even the silly colorful boxes and fancy packaging its like that with all products some products I now deal direct with the factory and get in plain jain brown boxes and save a nice amount. Wish I could go direct to them for bullets but no shipping across border allowed anymore.... thanks to someone across the border....

Gun Shows never been to one as of yet one of these days...
 
Most people are quiet because chances are that their source is quite limited and they want to keep it for themselves. I've seen medium sized kegs of milsurp powder at gun shows for usually only a little less than retail price for modern powder in civilian packaging. The labelling usually involves masking tape and a marker so I'd be cautious about buying it none the less. It's very rare I see milsurp projectiles except for those pulled from Soviet 7.62x39 or x54R or occasionally US 5.56mm bullets from Lake City. I once found a box of unfired IVI .303 British brass at a gun show but the guy was asking $120-140 for 100 pieces or something because he thought they where collectible.

For loaded ammo there is still some milsurp 8x57mm floating around (Czech, Yugo, Egyptian, and even some German) as well as the Norinco 7.62x51 and 5.56x45 but prices are going up because there is no more ammo coming out of China.

To reduce cost of plinking ammo I started casting a few years ago but they are a whole other animal and require a lot of different techniques and ways of thinking. For cheap projectiles if you keep velocities =<2000fps there are several companies that sell cast bullets for a lot cheaper than jacketed. Often under $100 per 500. Often requires different powders or reduced charges at the minimum though.
