I am going to be in the Ottawa area next month and need to find a good place to find some Varget and maybe some Reloader 17.

Thanks

Good luck, that stuff flies off the shelves. But if you're timing's right and your arrival in town coincides with a recent shipment, the only places to find powder in the area are LeBaron's (I found some Varget there once), and if you're willing to leave the city a bit, there's the Stittsville Range shop out west that sells powder apparently (never been), and of course Higginson Powders in Hawkesbury out east.

Definitely give them a call before making the trip.

I have not found any problem finding Varget. Either I am just lucky, or not to many people are using it around here. I bought some last week end, and was pleasantly surprised to see the price went down from $32 to $28/lb. unless of course you buy from Dante's, then you can add $10 more per pound.

Are you going anywhere near Hawkesberry, Higginsons Powder would be a good place to call. Stittesville shooting range also. Maybe one of these places would keep it for you if you paid now to make sure you got some.

I would hate you to travel all this way and not get any. If the stores in Ottawa won't keep it for you till you arrive and you don't want a boat load, I could possibly keep a few pounds for you till you got down here.

I got 1 pound from LeBaron here in town, but I think it was their last. If you call Stittsville, Linda might have it set aside for you from the vault.

i know that higgs dont carry the reloader, varget $29/lb i am sure. i have no comment about lebaron, also you can try stittsville i dont know what they have, in anycase

lebaron- n/a

I you want more than about a pound or two of powder from Higginsons, you need to call one day ahead. They are only allowed to keep a very limited amount of powder at the store. (rest is in their offsite magazines)

For us Ottawa guy's, Higginsons is the best value for powder. They don't always have what you want in stock, but you can't beat the price. I don't bother with Lebaron for powder anymore; they NEVER seem to have any in stock. Stittsville usually has a good selection, but I find them a bit pricey.

I agree, plus Stittsville is only open two days a week in the winter!
