Good places for small game around Ottawa?

Looking to do a couple of day-trips in the Ottawa area. Checked out the MNR maps and a few others. Can't seem to find much in way of crown land near the NCR.

For instance, foret LaRose, east of the city doesn't show up as crown land. I thought it was, but maybe someone can clarify?

Larose

Hi - larose is an agreement forest, and you can hunt there - I used to when I lived in Ottawa. The small game is hit and miss, some years there'd be lots of partridge, other years not so many. I did not see any rabbit, however other guys would come out of the bush with one or two.

Going southwest, near Kemptville/North Gower, there is a forest (name escapes me) now, similar to Larose. I only hunted there once or twice however.

I used to live in the area just north of the Larose Forest. It can get VERY busy on weekends (You can hunt on Sundays in Prescott-Russell). I prefer to hunt weekdays if possible.

Reasonably good small game there...

In addition to Larose and Kemptville i've been told you can also hunt the Marlborough forest which is on the road between North Gower and Smiths Falls . but because its part of Ottawa i don't know which in areas you can shoot.

You can hunt Larose, and you can hunt Marlborogh forest (It's quite large too!) There's another spot south of Ottawa on Bank St (hwy 31) near Winchester. "Mountain Provincial Wildlife Area". This is also huntable crown land. http://ca.geocities.com/larry.neily@rogers.com/mountain4.htm

I've hunted the Larose, Marlborough and Limerick forests. They are all agreement forests, and open to hunting. Limerick lies south and east of Merrickville in small patches down toward Roebuck.

Yes I've seen them congragating on Wellington just west of the Chateau Laurier....
