Hey all.

Looking at getting into rifle reloading for precision type shooting.

Finally.

I have a thread in the Precision Rifle section if anyone want to read 10 pages of stuff, here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148155

What are good places for pricing for getting stuff?

What is it like to mail order EQUIPMENT from the States?

Any Canadian suppliers that would be recommended?

And if you have anything to add to the above link, please feel free to do so.

There are LOTS of canadian suppliers. Higginsons Powders has good prices on a lot of stuff.

Personally, with the strength of the CDN dollar, I'd buy presses and stuff down south. MUCH cheaper.

Componants MUST be purchased up here, as they are illegal to export (well, not all, but for the most part yes!).

I bought a press from Midsouth Shooters Supply. A RCBS Rockchucker Supreme Master reloading kit is going for $229.99 which is hard to beat. Importing was no big deal, you will get dinged a brokerage fee on top of shipping and gst, but still worth it.

buy Canadian. these are the guys who support us and if we don't support them they won't be around in the future when we need them. lots of good places both in Alberta and Ontario.

Go Canadian? When we often are faced with double the price. I'll buy Canadian when the prices are competitive and lots are but lots aren't. Locally powder goes for $40. a pound. Higginson sells same stuff for $26.00 per pound delivered. Locally RCBS set as described above is on the shelf for +$300.

Order yur major equipment South of the border and have them mail it. Post OFfice charges $5.00 to clear customs.

Take Care

X2. If the difference is a few bucks....sure. However, my local store charges more than double what US stores are charging for certain items.

in alberta you have phoenix, P&D, TSE, Russels, wholesale and Milarm to name a few.

in ontario i am not as familiaar but bear.29 (reloader bench i think) on here, Higginson, Epps, maybe Wolf in Kingston.

if you need more info on places or what to get, dropped me an email at walter.hornby@gmail.com. 90% of my loading is handgun but i shot my own reloads for hunting and we quit at 4 deer this year with 4 tags left :}

+2 go Canadian

I am all about supporting Canadian business, but not about to go broke myself in the processs.

With the dollar what it is now, retailers have to deal with people like me that just plain don't buy the crap Canadian retailers cry about. There is no reason for something here to be double the price.

I try to buy Canadian whenever I can, but retailers here just don't give me a chance. Last purchase....digital camera. In Canada-cheapest price I was quoted was $3700. Bought it in NYC for $1700CND, all said and done (after all my taxes at the border were paid).

Canadian retailers need to get with the times. I don't buy their BS excuses, I just take my business elsewhere. Plain and simple. They want me back, do something with your prices.

Buy whatever large pieces you can in the US, you will save a ton, anything you can't export (ammo, components, you will have to get raped at your local Canadian gun store). What you save shopping in the US will soon be eaten up by the higher costs of components here. Might as well save a bit of money.

Wholesale Sports, S.I.R., and LeBarons are all good but compare prices. For the most part they compare to the states sometimes better and they're Canadian. Watch shipping powder and primers though and LeBarons will ship part orders without telling you.

For precision reloading, Sinclair International have what I consider the best tools. They ship in Canada. All the other store named so far in this thread have reloading equipment but are way short of the selection offered by Sinclair for precision reloading. See www.sinclairintl.com
