good powder for 9mm

Another nod for 231 - yes it's dirty, but it's relatively cheap to load, meters well through the Lee measure, any resonable load for 9mm will overflow if you double charge (which is a very good thing when using a progressive like the Lee, with which you may have to scr*w while loading) and is amazingly consistant. Don't forget to get a factory crimp die and run all your rounds through it after they come off the progressive - makes a world of difference.

thanks for all the reply's looks like im going to have to get a few different loaded up and see what works for the gun ill have to look around to see where i can get the w231 and tg if anyone else has any reloading recipe's for 9mm that would be great

231, TG, power pistol all work well - maybe also look at AA#7 if you can find it - it was a factory 9mm powder and meters well, is very consistent and acccurate and is fairly clean.

I used 231 until last week in 9mm. I wanted to try something new so i bought the new win. auto comp. The result was amazing. Clean powder. My load was 3.8 gr with 147 gr frontier at 1.10 COL.

i apprecate all the advice from all !! i have a ton to learn i have a good friend that has been reloading a while but he reloads just about everything so wanted the advice from a few others a 3.8 seems to be quite shy but if it works and burns clean then ill give it a try still have to take the drive 2.5 hrs away as nobody around moncton sells powder but ill be loading speer 125 gr as they came with the sale of the pro 1000

I couldn't find Titegroup anywhere, so went with W231. I use 4.3gr with a Campro plated 124gr bullet, Win brass and CCI small pistol primers.

W231 works very well for me in mid range to max loads. Just as clean as anything else i have used. Also it's a ball powder so it meters very consistantly in powder measures.

I noticed that as well. I was able to get a consistent 4.3gr with my Redding powder drop, testing every 20th load and also at random, over 650 rds. Set it and forget it.
