Good powder for a m14s

I just loaded up a batch of bullets(25) using 41grs of IMR 3031 and 165gr Hornady BTSP Interlock. Brass was NATO IVI & Imperial and 5 rounds were Win., I'll save the Varget for my model 88.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned WW 748. It works well in my M14, burns clean, and meters consistently. Shooting fmj's the accuracy is quite acceptable. It also works well in .223 loads. I agree that IMR 4895 is more accurate especially with 168 gr. bullets but if you want to shoot a lot with good accuracy I would consider WW 748. Purchased in 4 or 8 pound canisters it is relatively inexpensive as well.

W748 is very similar to BLC-2.

W748 used to be a favourite of mine in the .223, but I switched to BLC-2 since it was available from Higginson at a decent (bulk) price.
