So I'm looking at picking up a couple 1911 magazines, however I'm not certain what's good quality or not. I had a Wilson Combat mag but doing a mag drop on a harder surface caused the spring and follower to fly out so I'm a bit hesitant to go back to those mags right now. Preferably the mags would have the extended baseplate as my 1911 has an extended magwell. Thanks,

The Kimber GI mags are pretty nice. I picked up 4 of them for WBAS and haven't regretted it. I hear from everyone that Wilson Combat makes excellent mags, so I'm surprised to hear an issue. I have a couple of Mec-Gar mags that work well too, including a 10 rounder.

I’ve been using 4 ACT brand mags and have found them to work quite well.
I’m not sure how they compare as I’m not a serious 1911 shooter but I’m fairly certain they’re the same ones nighthawk ships with their 1911’s

Any ideas who might have them in stock? I checked Wanstalls and Red Deer Shooting Center but they either didn't carry them or were out of stock. It's been a while since I've looked at buying anything firearm related so not sure what would be the best vendors to look at for 1911 stuff.

I have Wilson and act mags, once the springs settle down they both work very well. The act mags are black so they match my pistols, that's about the only advantage.

Wilson Combat, I have only run them through my 9mm and I have had zero issues with them for the last 5 yrs. Brownells is the best place they regularly go on sale.

I picked up a couple of Remington Mags from a dealer; they are nickle plated; really smooth, inside and out and work perfectly. They were not expensive either.

Tripp 'Cobra' magazines have the slickest function and the best finish that I've ever seen. <http://www.trippresearchinc.com/1911-magazines/>
