Hey guys just got my m14 about a couple months ago, just looking to do some small upgrades/mods. Got my oprod guide with a new spring on the way but I would like to do optics. Looked at deluxe marstar scope mount for 149.99 I believe? anyone have any opinions on this? easy to install, solid? So other than that i am not sure what scope would be useful for maybe 200-300 metre shooting, nothing too extreme as of yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

A lot of guys on here like the Bushnell 3200 10x Mildot. The Falcon line of scopes are also becoming popular. Have you considered the ARMS #18 mount? I have it on mine, and it's held solid.

The M14 mounts to look at are:

-ARMS #18
-Smith Enterprises
-Sandlak Industries

I would go with any of those.

My personal pick is the Smith Enterprises mount. It is pretty much bullet proof. I never had any issues with the Smith mount I had.

The only issue with the ARMS #18 mount is that because it sits low over the receiver, you can get ejected cases hit the bottom of the mount, scope windage turret, or scope ring, and causing a stoppage buy cases jamming between the op rod and front of the receiver opening. This can be solved buy tuning the bolt ejector spring. I personally never had this issue when I used the ARMS mount, but it is a common problem.

The Sandlak mount is very similar to the Smith mount.

The Springfield Armory 3rd Gen Mounts (and thier clones) are an " all right" mount if you can get them for the right price. The S.A. mount is overpriced and will eventually work loose. They are alloy and require you to "hammer" them to the side of your receiver...............yes, I said hammer........;)

B-Square Mounts............had one years ago.........never stayed tight.....didn't like how the level the mount on the action...........stay away!!!!

Bottom line, DO NOT buy one of the cheap M14 mounts..........or you will be in for headaches............stick with a steel mount.......avoid the aluminum mounts........mounting optics on an M14 is a finicky proposition.......

Also have a read through the Scope/Mount FAQ stickied near the top of this forum.

Anywhere you can purchase the Smith Enterprises -Sadlak Industries mounts?

Has there been any jamming issues with these two like the arms18?

avoid the marstar mount unless you are going to weld it on or make it permanent by some other means.. it holds solid for the first box or so then gets a nice wobble to it. don't expect it to hold zero, had a bad experience lol
