Good Red Dot for M305

I went to a scout mount, and couldn't find an ultimak rail, so I bought the springfield scout mount. It's not as low as the ultimak, and my eotech was way too high. I tried to find an aimpoint micro, but couldn't find one. I was in a rush to get this thing going for a bear hunt.

I ended up buying a bushnell red dot. TRS25 I think. It was only around 150$, andhold s zero, and sits fairly low.

Some have been pm'ing asking for photos of the aimpoint/ultimak setup:

That's a very nice setup, Brobee, how much did that set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

EDIT: Nevermind, Brobee, found a retailer in Canada. That optic costs about as much as the rifle alone!

Eotechs have been good to me although some people have longevity issues with them related to the batteries pistoning around under recoil. They are pretty inexpensive though and very fast to acquire, faster than anything else I have seen.

You see them used for around $450 pretty regularly, or you used to anyway. I would really have to be talked in to giving up one of mine!

You gotta watch those Chinese copies though, so hit or miss. You could get one that works great, then the next one falls to pieces-literally, after a couple of shots. Better to save up and get something real, even if it's used.

Grizzly: Are you referring to the Bushnell 1x25 Trophy Series TRS-25?

It's about $135 on Ebay.
Anyone ever use one on their M14? Opinion?
BTW, I will have a UTG M14 Tri-rail in the EE for $130 shipped brand new in box, unopened, sometime next week.
PM me, first..I'll Take It...

So how is your chinese micro holding up Uberfiend?

I'm referring to the 1x32 that looks like an ACOG. A 3 moa red or green dot surrounded by an illuminated T. I bought one this fall at Cabellas and am using it on a 10-22 that I put in an Evolution (tactical) stock. Its rated for centrefire, has a huge adjustment range, so you shouldn't have any problem zeroing it. If it doesn't hold together, send it in on warranty. The paperwork enclosed with it says Lifetime Warranty.

I watched a guy shooting with one on his CZ 858 rifle, and he had no complaints about it holding zero either.

I considered buying a clone on ebay, but I've heard very poor quality reports on the generic clones of it. Bushnell may have specified a higher standard of quality, even if both come from China.

Read my post. I have one on my m14. I like it. Holds zero fine and sits fairly low on my Springfield scout mount. Not as low as an ultimak, but I couldn't find one of those.

Here's a ####ty pic.

I did read your post: "Bushnell Trophy T-dot has an alright reputation, and is an ok sight. Around $225.00. Lifetime warranty. " Is a "Trophy T-dot" the same as a "TRS-25" then? Maybe I need to look them up. That setup looks good. Send some better pics!

I think you have me mixed up with Grizzlypeg. He was talking about a T-dot.

anyways, I think they are different. I have they TRS25 like in your pic. I can't remember the dot size 2 or 3 moa. It would sit pretty low on an ultimak rail. They way I have it with a springfield mount, I have a small cheek pad, but that was me just being picky.

Battey life is outstanding, I think it's rated for 8000 hours. Way better than my eotech 552 for that. for the price it's a good unit.

I'll see if I get around to taking more pics after I mix another rum n coke
