I bought an 1895 Winchester on the EE, throat is bad and won't stabilize jacketed bullets. I have thought of re boring, but I'd really like to keep it in .303.
Who would be able to re barrel it to the original specs? Ideally in AB, but I'm probably going to have to ship it anyway.

Rifling is fairly strong, I shot a mule deer with it using a .316 cast bullet this season. It just about holds 4" at 100 yds, but I want to run full power jacketed out of it.
I know it won't be cheap to barrel, with such a long barrel, cutting dovetails and mounting the forend.

What size bullets are you using?
The fellow at 303British.com thinks that most jacketed bullets are too small at .312.
He thinks that .314 can be better, although he was talking about Enfields and I'm not sure how Winchester bored their barrels.
I have an SMLE with an eroded throat and after diamond lapping the bore, it can put five into 1.5 inches at 50 yards with .316 powder coared cast bullets.

In another rifle, I'm getting 2400+ f/s out of powder coated bullets with no leading.
I have a 95 carbine in .303 with a rough bore, but it's a project rifle that is years from completion.

BTW, the 95 barrel has a long straight section over the chamber area and it's hard to find a sporter blank that has enough meat in this area.
A local smith has rebarrelled 95's in the past, using Mosin-Nagant barrels.
