Good starter accurate rifle?

horray for getting a mentor. having someone to bounce questions off of, without getting a ton of internet chatter is a great thing. I love this forum and have learned a great deal from it, but my shooting buddy is a wealth of info about shooting, guns, and where to find local game. Also a great guy to have a beer with!
Welcome to shooting sports, and you won't regret a .22lr.

you don't need an accutrigger or any other gadget to learn how to shoot well. A nice bolt action .22lr with a decent scope will work wonders and should keep you busy for a little while. Later down the road you decide you want something bigger then a .308win if hunting is a possibility, if not a .223 will work fine. both these calibres are capable of accurate shooting to 1000m+.

You don't have to spend a lot to have fun. I remember shooting at wooden matches at 50yards with a 100$ toz-78 (.22lr) and a cheap 50$ bushnell rimfire scope.

The best advice I can give you is to get a cheap rifle to feed, learn the basics and with a little more experience you'll know what YOU need.

If accuracy is your thing, you will learn a lot with a bolt action .22lr. If shooting at watermelons turns your crank then an SKS will fit the bill. If you decide to upgrade to a centrefire rifle the cheapest and best value going is a Stevens 200 (cheaper if you find a sligtly used one in the EE) and a bushnell 3200 scope, You can't go wrong with this combo.

Good luck, your on the right track bud!

troll?

Well what do you expect from a new guy who knows nothing? Of course he would ask questions like that, so he get more information in him.
