Good time to buy Savage 10TR

I thought the 10TR heavy barrel was less prone to heat?

To be fair this is my first rifle
So no previous baseline

All i know is this with stock barrel, and i can only compare it to new barrel :
Load dev was hard as lands we’re hard to find (very long lead angle)
Barrel could group sub moa when hot, for the sub 1/2 moa you really have to watch heat
Headspace was spot on to the thou by savage, and you could load well within mag lenght and touch lands

Out of the box, pre-chassis, this rifle impressed people at the local range for a 650$ rifle
It would look ridiculous with such a big looking scope and small stock!

This is a fairly common 5 shot group with my factory 10tr barrel . This load was Winchester brass, Remington 91/2 primers, 42.7 grains of IMR4895, Sierra matchking 168grain the thou jump. Consistent 1/2 to 3/4 MOA and when its on the larger side its me being shaky

I'll load up a bunch and shoot a full target 5 groups of 5 as all i can find on my phone was a few single groups during load testing. I have some better somewhere but damned if i can find on my phone.

I have also had good luck with Nosler Custom Comp in 168, and 175 Gr. Hornady match bullets not as lucky with, but had success with the A max as well.

Bump
Another great time to buy one
Right now SFRC just made an extra discount on the 20’’ model, plus an extra 15% labour day weekend code.
Comes up to 556$/shipped, all in, taxes and all.

Or better yet you could get one on the EE for 550$/600$ with just 100 rounds through!

I've been very happy with mine. 165 grain sst's over 44 grains of varget produce 3/4 inch groups consistently. This is the hunting load I've settled on. I haven't experimented much with match bullets as I only have access to a 100 yard range right now so I don't really see the need.
