Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for a good course around the BC (specifically Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody) area to go to.

I have contacted a couple guys I found doing basic searching but none of them even got back to me. Perhaps someone here does a course?

If anyone can reccomend a course that'd be great.

Thanks,

(Sorry if this is the wrong area like my last thread, still getting used to the forums)

What type of course? What are you looking to learn.
That is a pretty broad area. Skeet? Olympic Target Shooting? Tactics? Shooting Games/Sports.

Or did you mean knitting or foreign languages? If that is the case, try your local community centre.

;)

hmmm, grab me a link for knitting, that sounds amazingly fun, I could make sweaters for my gun stock :)

on a serious note ;) CFSC/CRFSC training courses, basically courses for the road to my PAL & RPAL, perhaps it might be a good idea to contact the gun club close by as ask them about it?

Try Silvercore: http://www.silvercore.ca/ I just did the CFSC/CRFSC course with them last weekend. 2-days 8 hours each (approx). They offer other course schedules. They were great instructors, plus you get access to their ATT application process that allows you to get a 5-year ATT to go to any range in BC and the Yukon at any hour of the day.

Contact Mike K here on CGN.

Mike has taken a wide range of training at different schools, and is very knowledgeable about firearms in general. So, he would be a great person to get you started out, and he frequently is recommended by people here for courses.

He is also in your area etc. PM him here, or PM me and I will send you his contact info.

Thank you both for the recommendations, I'll be sure to look in to both.

I love gun nutz :)

hmm.. i think i'd like to try knitting. haha. but seriously, what type of course are you wanting? just your CFSC.. then i'd also recommend silvercore in Delta.

One more thumbs up for silvercore. it is a great place. hands on practice and relaxed atmosphere. They also do the courses on a regular basis so they know what they are doing.

If you haven't decided yet, I just finished the CFSC/CRFSC course with Silvercore. It was fun and informative and I highly recommend them.

Mike did a great job for me, my family, and my friends. He was very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms and was very personable, thumbs up for him.

At risk of being boring... I'm going to suggest Silvercore too! I did the course on Feb and I still smile when I go by their training center.

LTATT was a breeze with their partially filled out application. I got it in a week from mailing it =D

I'm seriously considering taking their handgun/rifle/CORE/bear defense courses too!

I'm glad the course has a good track record. I have never handled a hand gun before and I think that will be my first purchase once I get my RPAL. Do you write the exam during the second day or how doe that work?

Mike K. is great! I took his PAL/RPAL course, as did my wife, sister, brother-in-law and coworker (I was a bit excited and referred him to everyone).

You take the exam at the end of the second day.

Little bit of advice here: read the manual once before going to the course, pay attention in the class and you are basically guaranteed to pass the knowledge part.

As for the practical, just relax, take your time, and keep in mind that it is a SAFETY course above everything else.

You'll be fine, don't worry too much about it; their staff is excellent and they'll go over everything you need to know.
