As far as the shot placement is concerned, it was perfect... and the arrow likely did impact the far shoulder after passing through heart and lungs. That deer did not even feel it and the only thing that kept him on his feet was adrenaline from his battle.
That shot on a deer in normal circumstances would have resulted in a dead deer within a very short time and distance.

thats right, some people can't fathom what a deer filled with adrenaline can do..........

I agree with Bigredd, great shot. As with any bow shot you' re relying on opening up wound channels to bleed your animal. Did you see the flow!?
 
Ok...i get it i was wrong on the shot placement. I (for some reason) thought the heart was higher. Oh did I mention what a perfect shot.:D
 
wow, thanks grouseman for the anatomy shot, i was always told to shoot just behind the shoulder and about halfway up the body, which would in reality be a couple inches above the heart. nice to know now, :)
