Saw two separate bears, three deer, a fox, and a bunch of turkeys, and all, on the back roads of Haliburton, on one drive Sunday night.
The first bear was sitting on the road, chewing on his front paw. He must have got a sliver or something. He limped off on three legs, and then stopped and looked back. We stopped, and had a good look, maybe fifty feet. Yearling, excellent shape, nice shiny coat. Big head. Should be even better when the Ba$tards let me hunt him this fall. The second bear was even bigger, but I think also a yearling, was crossing the road towards a landfill. Nice and fat for a spring bear.
The deer, we watched from a friends place, a doe and two yearlings, prancing and playing in a spot of green grass. Flags up then down, bouncing around.
