Went out yesterday evening for the last 1 1/2 hours of daylight for some pre-season scouting and counted a little over 100 mule deer. About 25 bucks were still supporting both antlers and in really good shape. I checked over the doe's and fawns and they were also in terrific shape as well. I should get picked in this years draw with my priority 6.
Good to see the bucks with antlers, which is a great sign that they are not stressed by winter. It should be a great year in my area for mule deer. The one buck I spotted would gross between 180 to 185 B&C.........he might make the book this year. (190 net B&C)
Spotted three other bucks that have gross score of 170 and they should be really nice this fall as well. Can anyone else report good findings in Alberta or Saskatchewan?
 
very nice. ya i noticed there has been a good deer heard latly. i get around 1000 pictures of deer per week on my trail cam. i estamate there is around 57 deer comming into my bait. but im hunting a peace of land that is over 3000 acres!!

Sorry gtrussell, the only reason why I asked for Alberta snd Saskatchewan is because it is the only provinces which I hunt deer. BTW, how are the deer doing in Manitoba? My son and I plan on going there around the Swan River/Russell/Roblin area sometime in the future. I think that Manitoba has had a milder winter and less snow than in previous years. Please let me know.:cheers:
 
Been a really warm January,and so far in Febuary.Hardly any snow,so the deer should be doing well.Good luck when you come out to hunt.Gary.
 
From my camera's, and what I have seen, the numbers in and around my area seem consistent with a couple years past,numbers are still good.

I would anticipate a good spring for fawns if the weather continues to keep the females healthy.

Maybe I just see more cause I use good glass Gary.;)
 
As long as they look good in your eyes,thats all you should worry about.Others are quite cabable to see what looks best, in thier own eyes.
