I was contemplating this .410/.22LR combo for my little guy this Christmas. Rossi site says it weighs in around 3 3/4 lbs. Anyone have any experience with it?

Regards,

I bought one for grouse hunting. It's amazingly light and fun to shot. A bit of a kick with 3" shells, but with 2 1/2" shells, it's smooth.

Haven't shot the 22lr that much, but we used to shot clays (4-5" wide?) at 25ft away with open sights and we were getting pretty good.

Single-shot makes it very safe. I'd personally wouldn't hunt with a semi. Finally, I hope to show my young kid eventually how to shot with it (with supervision of course).

I have one as well....great little gun. The only "problem" is that to have the .22LR barrel sighted in the reat sight has to be almost 1/2" to the left, looks a little odd but works and will shoots great groups (2" at 50yards with irons). Also...the fibre optic CAN and WILL break on you on the .22LR barrel...it still works with the little bit that stays inside the plastic guard, its just not very bright. Thankfully if you so choose you can also scope this gun but will need to order a Rossi scope base in order to do so.

I shoot the .410 barrel alot...it patterns well and is accurate with slugs. The gun weights NOTHING with the shotgun barrel...if you carry it on your back you will forget its even there lol. When you break it down it will fit into almost any day pack...espically with the .22LR barrel.

Its also a GREAT backpacking gun...the case that it comes with is not to shabby either, I water proofed it and can fit the gun with both barrels, a cleaning kit with a few shop rags and solivent, .410 cleaning rods , .22LR bore snake, a pouch with 20 or so 3" .410 rounds and a few 50 round boxes of .22LR. I also cut a gun sock in half to help pad and to help protect the barrels from rust (same reason I also coated mine). The stock is hollow as well so you can store some stuff in there as well. The strap for th bag can also be turned into a quick sling for the gun.

All in all this is a really fun, impressive, tough gun :)

They are worth about $300...IF you can find them tho.

Are you limiting it to a "new" firearm currently in production? If so, the Rossi would be at the top of my list as well although I much prefer over/under gun combos.

The Remington International o/u 410/22 isn't bad... if you can find one.

I've heard lots of negative things about the M6 Scout in terms of accuracy.

If you would consider a used gun, you can't go wrong with the Savage Mod 24 o/u in 410/22LR... again if you can find one that is. Don't have to switch barrels, they don't weigh much so you can carry them all day.
