Its never easy. Sad for your loss, but 16 years is a pretty good run so at least you aught to have some memories that'll last a lifetime!

I'm only a couple years away from losing my current pup, she is almost 12, and haven't had a springer make it past 14. I am debating on getting a Boykin pup next year so that there is no gap between dogs... it sucks losing a good dog.

My condolences, we put down our oldest last spring. We just got a new dog to fill the void but she’s still missed, I realized how much our one dog, now the oldest was depressed about it. She’s been much more her old self since the new dog joined the pack.

No gap between dogs is what I am trying to manage. Got 2 8 year olds now after losing our 2 15 year old litter mates last year, so having these 2 was a blessing in managing the loss.

He was also my wife's show dog with 11 titles for confirmation and obedience, He was a "Super dog" to us.

He most certainly was a "Super Dog" in anyone's eyes. And a very lucky dog as well.

My other dogs are whining looking for him it's hard to watch , they were all very close to each other.

I think your dogs are leading a doggie dream life. They have purpose, an ideal living environment, they have each other and they have their owners.

It took a couple of weeks before our dogs gave up checking the usual spots for the ones that we lost, and they fumbled with routines etc.. that had been established. But they get past that.

Condolences on your loss, but concentrate on the wonderful life experience you and your dog enjoyed.

It never gets easier, RIP Mr. CHIP!
I am getting ready to load some of Louie's ashes ( my son's beloved GSP) into some 20 gauge hulls so he can hunt with us next fall for one last time.
