Just wanted to share my experience. Went out goose hunting on thursday for my first ever hunt in my life !

I have to say I love it I was able to take down 2 of them with 9 shots - again as I said it was my first ever hunt and me shooting a gun !

I wish I could go daily that's how much I loved it. Additionaly in the process of making goose jerky an will keep you guys posted on how it turned out.

Thanks

How is the jerky going? Post up a recipe.

Just doing the hunter Ed course now. Had a buddy over to my property and he was shocked at the opportunity to hunt canada geese I had on my own property. I said "you eat these things?". He talked me into getting my license and will show me how it is done.

I see the darn things as pests. They poop all over my pasture.

Welcome to the addiction :D Goose gunnin' is one of the funnest things you can do with your clothes on.

Shooting them in fields out of layout blinds when they come in with their landing gear down is a rush!

Goose wraps are awesome.

1 cubed Goose breast, no silver skin or grisel, soaked in Teriyaki glaze

dice up green, red, orange peppers, onions, garlic, cook in a pan with chipotle southwest sauce.

When veggies are cooked throw in the cubed goose. Cook it till the goose JUST turns brown/grey, and is still pink inside.

Throw on a tortilla wrap with cheese and hammer down.

Goose hunting is a hoot! I look forward to it like a kid looks forward to Christmas. We've been out three times so far and have downed 19 honkers, but things seem to be off to a slow start this year. I would be interested to know how everyone else is finding it, but we aren't seeing nearly the amount or size of flocks that we normally do at the start of the season. I'm thinking that this warm weather has go them hanging up a little and that we'll see more volume as the season progresses and the temps drop. At least I hope so.

This year is my first year to get out and hunt them proper. By that I mean scout for them and set up the next day where you find them. Scouting is key. I went out three times last season and bagged five or six. This year we've downed 63 birds in two weekends because we knew where the birds wanted to be. And don't be afraid to ask for permission from farmers. Most of them don't bite. Good luck

It sure is fun!! And addicting!!! Got out for 2 hunts in the early season managed 3 one night and 4 another.. HONK
