Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this so I apologize in advance if it's not. This is my first year of hunting and I don't have any networking that would allow me to gain access to any crop land to hunt geese. Would there be anyone here that would know of a friendly farmer or have land themselves? I'm a mature and responsible father of 3 who would more than likely bring at least one of the kids with me as I'm trying to encourage them to take part. I'm in Saskatoon.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read!

Scout your geese, find out what RM they're in and get the map.By cross referencing the section owners names with the local phone book you can either call them or better still drop by and ask permission.I'm from BC and that's how I started out in Saskatchewan.I have been turned down once only, but then again I don't hunt around Cabri! Mur

I plan on doing just that. I came on here hoping that there may be members of this community that may give me a bit of a head start. Thanks for the advise though! In and around the Hanley / Dundurn area seems to be an area that may produce if I can get in there.

I know a farmer around Hanley I should ask. If he has geese, I expect he will give me permission. If that happens, we'll have a meeting. I have a young friend who also wants hunt waterfowl. I just need a bit more prodding to get started.

I started out in the same manner for hunting whitetail and muledeer. Best bet, as suggested is to buy a RM map of the area you wanna hunt. I have probably 15 RM maps now and they really help knowing who's land is who's. I can't recall a single time yet I've been refused access, Sask farmers are kick a$$. Only issue you might have are the city dwellers that want the country life and buy up some land, they have been know to be dinks.
If you get permission on some really good land and plan on hunting it again buy the farmer a nice bottle of whisky or a gift card for a meal for his family....its a nice gesture and can guarantee repeat access.

Cheers!!
