Anybody have tips on what time of day to go? Are we talking the usual predawn setup then blast them? Or is midday ok this time of season? Shooting from a blind over decoys, will be on land near some ponds.

Yeah its a question of do I have to get up at 4am...or if I sleep in is going at lunch time ok. Up north I found that it was either first light or last light, nothing in between unless I became a cursed road hunter on the beach!

If its mild, its an early am thing. If its minus 15 then you can sleep in till 8 and set up for 10am. They dont move early when its really cold!!

Crap I just re read the regulations and realized this season is only for WMU's that have no sunday gun hunting? This is correct? and I am assuming still cannot hunt sundays lol...?

Sorry USP, they've all been flying into Norfolk. Steady droves from the east.

Seriously, they have been flying here between 8 - 9:30am. Today was an early day. And they have been going to the fields late. 30 - 60 min before sundown.

Make sure you run at them to get them to fly. They are not that smart in late season and are already sitting on iced ponds waiting for nesting. I gave it up after the one year's late hunt when they just swam away on the river instead of flying plus they stink more.
