No it's not, private property it's up to the land owner, hell one farmer I shoot for does exactly the same thing it works great.

Yes it is, you need to bust out your firearm books again. You cant shoot from a vehicle even on private property.

I'm pretty sure no one out here really cares, we used to set up a picnic table in the back of the pickup, and stagger people on each side, that way you can shoot out both sides of the truck. Just don't hit the cows. - dan

And Dan never said that out loud either. Were not going to talk about the bad public image that would create, or how if the mounties were to catch a guy, the book would be thrown at him. But we wont worry abou that. As none of us have ever done such a thing, nor will we. :slap:

Which book? Certainly not the hunting regs., as this is not hunting.

On private property, ... We've even perfected the art by taking an old piece of garden hose, about 18" long and slicing the lenght of it so that it can be fitted over the window ledge. Protects the underside of the stock and the window as well. I'm not saying what kind of window ledge.

Does that mean I gotta take down the roof mounted machine guns?

Doesnt seem right killing all that and no food use for it what about dog food? Back in the days when I was rabbit shooting every morning I fed myself and my dogs on fine rabbit!
You want to eat gophers, you go right ahead. I am more than happy to leave them for the other critters. Very rarely will there be any carcases left over the next morning.

I did see it one time when myself and two buddies killed around 1200 gophers in 2 days in a single field. THAT was a good time.

Here is a pic of me and a buddy in front of a hole that we took 14 gophers out of. All the corpses are lying where they were shot. We didn't move any for the pic. And this isn't even the worst (or best depending on how you look at it) field I have seen.

The reason we kill gophers by the thousands and leave them where they lay is cause there are millions upon millions of the little buggers to shoot. It would simply not be possible to shoot out a field.

Makes life real easy for the birds though, one field we visited so much a pair of bald eagles moved in because of all the freebies lying around. Our farmer friend and his wife were tickled pink by that.

Well... I'm on a f**kin mission here. :p Too many people call 'magazines' 'clips' and too many people call 'squirrels' 'gophers'. Hell, I used to be one of them. They are different than prairie dogs, pocket gophers etc etc. We don't call horses or bulls 'cows' and we don't call Wendy or Allen Rock 'smart'. Liebrals ain't 'right' either!!
I'm layin down the law on the squirrels damn it! :D

(The Truth is Out There....)

Frankly you can go on your crusade here and im calling a gopher a gopher and a magazine a clip if I feel like it.

A bit like rabbits with the numbers then, not even fit for dog food is a pity!
While I am not up on rabbit populations in the UK I can't imagine they approach the types of populations we see with gophers. We took about 2000 gophers out of a 150 acre field and there were lots left. I'd estimate 5000+ in 150 acres. I have seen even worse than that where the field was almost completely stripped of plant life. We killed thousands upon thousands upon thousands of gophers in that field. Too many to even count. I did doubles so often they became commonplace. I did more than a half dozen triples and almost even a quadruple.

Oh and my dogs like them. :)

That's a good pic :D

If there is anyone in the Medicine Hat area that would like a new gopher hunting buddy give me a shout. New to the area and would like to blast a few.
