I'm gonna go gopher hunting A LOT next summer but I don't know where to go.. I don't want to trespass or anything.. So does anyone have a list of farmers that I could contact to see if it will be ok to shoot gophers on their land?

Or any other ideas?

Go to the local Rural Municpality office in the district where you plan to shoot gophers. Buy a RM map. It will show the landowner's name on the quarter section in question. Look him/her up in the phone book or knock on the farmer's door. I have never been refused permission in S Sask. unless I was not aware that there were livestock in a pasture or some such. Mostly the RM secretary will tell you many places to shoot if you just ask. Good luck!

right now all the little buggers are recharging for the winter under about a foot of snow, but its never to early to start thinking about getting out there for some shooting. all gopher shooter are welcome in this area, contact me and I will find you some gophers

I have just stopped in and asked, most don't turn you down. Next spring I want to concentrate south on #2 in the hills by the lake.

Spend a little windshield time around the end of April/early May. Once you find a field you're interested in contact the landowner - made easier if you have an RM map and phone book like Longwalker suggested. You'd be hard pressed to find a rancher/farmer to refuse you permission. Just remember a polite demeanor and firm hand shake will take you far in rural SK.

find where the farmer who ownes the land is and walk up to his place and ask, ive never been told no without a good reason. if you know him well or hes your neighboor its even better (my case)

Where to shoot

If you dont mind the trip, try Mankota.Judy Smith is the mayor, and owner of the Grasslands Inn.She can put you in touch with landowners and locals who need help.:D Great place to stay and all the shooting you want within 15 miles.Hope this helps.

If your somewhat clean cut, make good eye contact and drive a clean vehicle as well.
