Hey Guys,

Just found out I am being sent to Saskatoon this summer for a week or so. I have the option of taking a few days of vacation at the end of my trip. I haven't hunted gophers since I lived in Calgary (God...was it actually 14 years ago now?) and I'm kinda excited about getting out again.

So the big question is: Are there any gohpers in the Saskatoon area or do I need to rent a truck and drive a few hours?

You should be able to see some in the parking lot at WalMart, and at the lawn at the hospital. Not sure how they'd feel about your shooting them, though.

Oh boy i can see the headlines now (Sniper on top of RUH). Seriously i`m 1.5 hrs south of Sakatoon, if you don`t get any contacts closer to the city send me PM.

Remember to say "shooting" gophers, not hunting gophers. There is no such thing as hunting gophers.....:p

Actually I've been here for a number of years now and I am STILL looking for a good gopher patch. There may be gophers around, or inside of the city, but you are not allowed to shoot at those gophers. Or the ones at peoples achorages, or the ones by Walmart, or by the univeristy, or at the corner of College and Preston. Gophers? Yes. Shootable gophers? No.

To me a good patch is in the open, with no houses, or roads, or cattle, or posted signs, or people near by. I have spent the last four summers and thousands of dollars in gas looking and I've not yet found that gopher patch.

You must no be looking very hard!!! Around here
(and anywhere else i've been in the prairies, including sask) you drive 10 minutes from the city in any direction, knock on a farmers door and he'll either have gophers for you to shoot, or will point you in the direction of someone who has!

i have gophers in my yard. i let them breed though so there is more to shoot the next year. I have lots of patches of them around, just have to go ask, lots of guys will point you somewere. I even used to have farmers give me 22 shells just to help control them.
